Based of an old, German legend dating back to pre-Christian traditions, Krampus is basically known as the “Anti Santa” who punishes the bad boys and girls around Christmas.
The feature film that comes out in early December revolves around a boy named Max and his dysfunctional family when they get together to celebrate Christmas. Because of his feuding family, Max turns his back on Christmas. He writes a letter to Santa Clause at the North Pole sharing his disillusions but tears up the letter instead to show his frustration and disbelief in the good moments that Christmas can bring. Little did he know that his lack of festive spirit would unleash an evil presence on him and his family.
Krampus is a horned, demonic spirit, the shadow of Saint Nicholas, that punishes any non believer. He and his helpers will not stop until the family that has brought this horror onto themselves is punished for their negligence of the true meaning of the holidays. All hell breaks loose as beloved holiday icons take on a monstrous life of their own, causing terror to the fractured family’s home and forcing them to fight for each other if they hope to survive.
